The Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) in Dundee opened in 1999 in what was once the site of a derelict garage.

The initial project had the backing of the University of Dundee, the Dundee Printmakers Workshop and Dundee Council. Together they aimed to provide a creative environment for arts students in the city and a permanent arthouse cinema. It is based on the concept established by the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London back in 1946.

The new building was designed by Edinburgh-based Richard Murphy Architects to great acclaim.

The DCA Print Studio offers workshops, short courses, drop in days, and residencies utilizing its state-of-the-art digital technology as well as more traditional equipment. It is open to students at all levels of ability. In addition there are regular workshops on other arts and crafts including calligraphy, jewelry making and photography.
