Westminster Abbey in London houses a multitude of national treasures.
Among them are two two bronze candelabra, six feet by seven feet wide by the artist, Benno Elkan (1877-1960) now in the south ambulatory.
They were donations to the abbey by Arthur Hamilton Lee, Viscount Lee of Fareham in 1939 and 1942. They depict figures from the Old and New Testaments of The Bible.
Elkan was a Jewish, German-born, British sculptor who fled Germany in 1933 after the rise of the Nazis. The artist's most famous work is the Knesset Menorah opposite the Knesset in Jerusalem, Israel.
Interestingly, Elkan was one of the 17 people who founded the German football club FC Bayern Munich.
