Moretonhampstead is a picturesque and historic market town located 15 miles west of Exeter on the lower slopes of Dartmoor National Park. Moretonhampstead's origins lie in the late 7th century with the establishment of a Saxon settlement of Moor tun. Wool was the mainstay of its economy for centuries, but nowadays tourism is the main focus with numerous pubs, cafes, and accommodation choices making it a great base for exploring Dartmoor. St. Andrew's church is a grade 1 listed building with the tower dating back to 1418.
