The trendy Northern Quarter (NQ) district of Manchester is home to a number of murals and pieces of street art. Located between Piccadilly and the Ancoats the area is home to many independent shops, vinyl stores and lots of cafes, bars and restaurants. In addition, the esea contemporary gallery is in this area of town. The street art scene is dynamic here with pieces appearing and then being replaced with some frequency.
Street art is another major feature of the area. Several prominent street artists showcase their art here in this area of Manchester. Among them are Snik, whose work Serenity is also on Little Lever Street, Akse who has several pieces in the NQ and Russ Meehan, aka Qubek.
Several independent stores incorporate street art into their shop fronts including Vinyl Revival on Hilton Street, a record shop specializing in the sounds of Manchester from the 1950s to the present and Corner Barber Shop also on Hilton Street. The Wheatsheaf Pub features Akse's black and white tribute to The Smiths' bassist Andy Rourke.
