Pitlochry Festival Theatre, Perth & Kinross, Scotland
The Pitlochry Festival Theatre is one of the main attractions in the pleasant Victorian town of Pitlochry, 26 miles northwest of Perth.
The theatre opened in 1951 as a tent theatre, the brainchild of John Stewart, a promoter of amateur dramatics in Glasgow.
The present theatre dates from 1981. It opened with a performance of Storm in a Teacup and now draws thousands of visitors to its summer season.
The theatre now comprises the main Auditorium with a capacity of 544, a Studio which seats 172 and the outdoor Amphitheatre with space for an audience of 120.
