One and Other is a cast-iron sculpture by Antony Gormley, completed in 2000 and on display at Yorkshire Sculpture Park near Wakefield in Yorkshire. Like many of his pieces, the figure is based on casts of the artist's own body, though in this case the form is lacking in any detail. It is situated on top a tall, dead tree, and so can only be seen from a distance.

Other works by Anthony Gormley are the Another Place statues by can be seen at Crosby Beach on Merseyside, north of Liverpool. Altogether 100 cast iron figures are placed facing towards the sea. The figures depict the artist's own naked body and stand 6 foot, 2 inches tall. The sculptures stand on the beach between Waterloo and Blundellsands.

Gormley's most famous work in the UK is probably the huge Angel of the North in Gateshead. Completed in 1998, the Angel of the North is one of the largest statues in Britain at 20 meters in height, with its wings spreading 54 meters. Like the Another Place figures, the statue is based on a cast of the artist's body.

Born in London, Gormley studied at Trinity College in Cambridge, before pursuing a postgraduate degree in sculpture at the Slade School of Art.

Gormley's work often revolves around the themes of the human body, identity, and the relationship between the individual and the environment. He is particularly interested in exploring the body as a space and the idea of the body as a vessel for experience.

Beyond his artistic endeavors, Gormley has been involved in teaching and advocacy for the arts. He has served as a trustee of the British Museum and the Hayward Gallery.
