County Sessions House, Liverpool

The County Sessions House in Liverpool near Lime Street Station, Walker Art Gallery, Steble Fountain, Wellington's Column and St George's Hall was built between 1882 and 1884.

A former courthouse, the neoclassical, Grade II listed building now provides office and storage space for the Walker Art Gallery.

It ceased functioning as a courthouse in 1984 when the Crown Courts moved to Derby Square. Later it was also briefly the home of the Merseyside Museum of Labour History.

The richly ornate interior contains two court rooms on the first floor, chambers for judges and barristers as well as cells. The building has served as a location for various TV and film dramas.
