In the UK, several police forces have established LGBT+ liaison officers and specialized units to support the LGBTQ+ community in the country, ensuring better engagement, protection, and response to hate crimes.

These officers receive training to understand the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly in cases of hate crimes, domestic abuse, and historical injustices. Forces such as the Metropolitan Police, Greater Manchester Police, and West Midlands Police have dedicated teams that work closely with LGBTQ+ communities to encourage reporting of crimes, build trust, and provide tailored support.

These initiatives also focus on tackling homophobic and transphobic violence, improving relations between law enforcement and LGBTQ+ people, and ensuring that victims receive sensitive and informed assistance. Many of these units also collaborate with community organizations, Pride events, and advocacy groups to promote inclusivity and equal protection under the law.
