Midlands Boroughs

The Midlands is a geographical area representing the very centre of England. It is loosely the same division as the ancient Saxon kingdom of Mercia. The wider region is also known as the "Heart of England."
The region is based on the historic counties of Derbyshire, Herefordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the West Midlands metropolitan boroughs of Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry and Walsall.
The West Midlands and East Midlands are loose terms for the division of the Midlands as a whole.
Altogether there are 12 boroughs. They are as follows: Birmingham, Coventry, Derby, Dudley, Leicester, Nottingham, Sandwell, Stoke-on-Trent, Solihull, Telford and Wrekin, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
Each borough will have a town hall or civic centre.

The Midlands is the third most populated urban area in the UK after Greater London and the northwest region centered on the large cities of Manchester and Liverpool
Birmingham is also the second most populous city in England after the capital London
Lincolnshire is also the only county with a coastline in the Midlands
