Winter Garden, Sheffield
Stroll an indoor garden in the heart of Sheffield
The pleasant Winter Garden in Sheffield is an indoor botanical garden in the Heart of the City district of this increasingly green Yorkshire town. It adjoins the Millennium Gallery and Peace Gardens in front of Sheffield's Town Hall. The Winter Garden is a short walk from both Sheffield Station and Sheffield Hallam University.
Housed in a large, modern glass and wooden structure that stretches over 70 meters in length and 22 meters in height, the building allows natural light to flood into the garden, creating a bright and airy space for visitors to enjoy. Indeed, the structure is one of the largest temperate glasshouses to be built in Britain in the last century. Larch is the main wood type used in the construction.

Features
The garden is home to over 2,500 plants, including exotic palms, ferns, flowers, and even a collection of tropical trees. The bedding plants are changed five times a year to reflect the season.
It was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II in May 2003.
The garden hosts events throughout the year including gardening demonstrations, art displays, live music performances, and seasonal celebrations.
